Dan’s practice focuses on civil litigation regarding real estate and business matters, landlord-tenant law, common interest community law, and appeals. His philosophy is to give clients practical advice based on a thorough understanding of the client’s situation and goals. Based on that knowledge, he helps clients understand their options so that they may make the best decision to achieve their goals. Dan brings his experience and passion to advising people and businesses with real estate issues and to representing clients in civil disputes. Dan is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Wyoming.
Community involvement is important to Dan. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Fort Collins Breakfast since 2016. Dan served on the Larimer County Bar Association (LCBA) executive committee since 2016, which culminated in his election as the LCBA president for 2024-2025. Previously, he was the president of the LCBA Young Lawyers Division and served on the Executive Council of the Colorado Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. He is an active volunteer with all these organizations. Dan is also a member of the Law Club, an organization dedicated to teaching legal ethics through song and dance. Finally, Dan serves as a Commissioner on the Eighth Judicial District Judicial Performance Commission (serving as chair from 2022-2024) and, in that capacity, reviews local judges and makes recommendations to the voters when judges stand for retention.
Dan earned his law degree in 2013 from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. During law school, Dan was the Online Editor-in-Chief for the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy, the Tenth Circuit Survey Editor for the Denver University Law Review, founded the Space Law Society, and was the captain of the school’s Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court team. While a student, Dan published papers on international space law and federal Indian law. Dan graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in economics and international relations in 2008. At USC, Dan played trombone in The Spirit of Troy, USC’s universally-renowned marching band.
Prior to joining Johnson Muffly & Dauster, PC in 2017, Dan was an attorney at a Fort Collins law firm where he handled a wide array of business, civil litigation, appeals, and adoption matters. Dan started his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Stephen E. Howard of the Larimer County District Court. When not practicing law, Dan enjoys astronomy, the mountains, disc golf, and spending time with his two young children. As a native of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Dan is an avid skier who eagerly awaits the first flakes of snow each winter.
